The Assuption
The Church is the community of the “now” and the “not yet.” Mary makes visible the “now.” In Mary, we see that the final triumph of God over evil is already accomplished, even though time has not run its full course. In her Assumption, Mary shares in the fullness of the kingdom and every part of her has been united with God in Three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We, too, will one day share the fullness of the kingdom and every part of the Church will be united with God.
Mary, full of grace, chosen from our race,
faithful daughter of Israel.
You are called the second Eve, you the Saviour did conceive, Ora, ora pro nobis.
Mary showed the way. Now with her we pray:
Let God’s Kingdom be found in us:
holiness and life and grace, justice, truth and love and peace. Ora, ora pro nobis.
