 Mass of Thanksgiving for 50 years of liturgy in the Vernacular
takes place this evening at 7 p.m in St Mungo’s, Townhead, Parson Street.
Fr Michael Hutson will preside and lead the concelebrants in the sung Eucharistic Prayer.
Fr David Wallace will sing the Gospel, and Mgr James MacNeil will preach.
St Mungo’s is a large and beautiful Church and all are welcome.  The music will be led by
The St Mungo Singers, the East End Deanery Choir, singers from St Mungo’s Choir, Alloa,
singers from St Mungo’s Towhead choir, from Duntocher, Penilee and other parts of the Archdiocese and beyond.
Jan McKenna is the organist, and Noel Donnelly is the harpist.
Many of the vestments will be from the set dedicated in the name of the Celtic saints – including
Sts Mungo, St Enoch, St Columba, St Margaret, St Magnus . . . . . . .

We pray for Pope Francis and the Synod of Bishops as they pray and discuss how to give more effective support to families.

Lord, hear us

We pray that the leaders of the nations, and the United Nations, may seek effective and peaceful means of resolving conflict.
We pray for refugees and migrants, and for peace everywhere especially just now in the Middle East.

We pray for ourselves and the people of our own country – that we may be renewed in our sense of compassion as we witness the hardships of so many throughout the world.

We pray for Paul Murtagh and Catherine Grainger as they marry this weekend.

We pray for everyone involved in ‘the Missions’ – that the Christian understanding of human dignity,
of the rights that all are entitled to, and of our being loved by God and our loving of God
through Jesus Christ may be spread and understood.

We pray for those who are ill in our families and communities, including
Mhairi McColl, Catherine McGregor, Brian Cavanagh, Moira Montgomery,
Margaret Gilmour, Catherine Gilbert, Bridget Devlin, Margaret McCafferty,
Brian Gallen, Irene and Pat Docherty, Mary Margaret Cosgrove, Teresita Ortiz,
Kenny More and Janet Harkins.

We pray for Dermot O’Dwyer, and all who have died recently.
We remember those whose anniversaries fall at this time including
Bernadette Kierney and Leo Gilbert,and we pray for those who serve the community in the armed forces.
