St Leo’s Parish Bulletin 17th Sunday A 31st July 2011

July 29, 2011

  • Entry Song: In the name of God the Father, in the name of God the Son,
    in the name of God the Holy Spirit, in the name of God.  . . . . . . . .

Greeting:  The Lord be with you: and with your spirit.

Act of penance:

I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
And, striking our breast, we say:
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.

The New Gloria:

We praise you,
we bless you,
we adore you,
we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory,
Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father.
Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son,
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world,

have mercy on us;

you take away the sins of the world,

receive our prayer;

you are seated at the right hand of the Father,

have mercy on us.

For you alone are the Holy One,

you alone are the Lord,

you alone are the Most High,

Jesus Christ,

with the Holy Spirit,

in the glory of God the Father.

Amen.

Reading I: 1 Kings 3:5, 7-12

Lord, how I love your holy law! Lord, how I love your law.

I understand my duty, O Lord, is to obey your word.
The law from your mouth means more to me than silver and gold.

So may your love be ready, O Lord, quick to console your servant;
and give me your love that I may live, your love my delight.

And that is why I love your law more than the finest gold;
and why I now rule my life by it; I hate what is false.

Your will is wonderful indeed, therefore I obey.
Your word gives light as it unfolds; the simple are taught.

 Reading II: Romans 8:28-30

Gospel Acclamation:  Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.  Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for revealing the mysteries of the kingdom to children.

 The 1st Reading: Zechariah 9: 9-10

When Jesus rode into Jerusalem, his action was not a sudden inspiration but something wholly in character with his previous ministry—his self-identification with the lowly that was to reach its climax on the cross.

 Psalm 144: The Lord is loving, the Lord is kind.

The Lord is kind, full of compassion, slow to anger, abounding in love.
How good the Lord is to all, he shows compassion.
The Lord is good to all his creatures.   The Lord is loving, the Lord is kind.

The eyes of all creation look to you,and you give them food that they need.
All creatures thank you, O Lord, your friends shall bless you,
The Lord is good  to all his creatures.  The Lord is loving, the Lord is kind.

 The Lord is just in all his ways, he is loving in all his deeds;
the Lord is close to all who call on him.  The Lord is good to all his creatures.
The Lord is loving, the Lord is kind.

2nd reading  Romans 8:9. 11-13

Gospel Acclamation:  Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
for revealing the myst’ries of the Kingdom to children. Alleluia. . . . . . .

Gospel: Matthew 11: 25-30

 Preparation of Gifts: as people  bring down the gifts of bread and wine we sing:

 Be still, my soul: the Lord is on your side; bear patiently the cross of grief and pain;
leave to your God to order and provide; in every change he faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: your best, your heavenly friend
through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul: your God will undertake to guide the future as he has the past.
Your hope, your confidence let nothing shake,
all now mysterious shall be clear at last. Be still, my soul: the tempests still obey
his voice, who ruled them once on Galilee.

 St Andrew Sabnctus
