Bellahouston Gloria: Gloria, gloria in excelsis Deo
Ps 62 O God, you are my God, for you I long.
O God, you are my God, for you I long, for you my soul is thirsting.
My body pines for you, my God, like a dry weary land without water.
O God, you are my God, for you I long.
I gaze on you in the sanctuary to see your strength and glory,
for your love is better than life itself; my lips will speak your praise. O God, you …..
On you I muse throughout the night, on my bed I remember you,
for you have been my refuge and your right hand holds me fast.
O God, you are my God, for you I long.
to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with your God. Alleluia, alleluia.

A new era of collaboration between Russia and the Catholic Church.
“I find this meeting between the president of Russia and Benedict XVI a highly visible confirmation of a multi-year process of ever-improving relations between Russia and the Vatican,” said Moynihan. “The two leaders are not talking about theological matters; they are talking about values, about how Russia and the Catholic Church can work together in the cultural and social field.”
He continued: “I note that this meeting in Rome takes place just after a week-long visit of Russian orthodox metropolitan Hilarion Alfeyev, chairman of the Department of External Church Relations and a permanent member of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Moscow, to the United States, where he met with Protestant evangelical as well as U.S. government and Catholic leaders in New York, Washington and Dallas. “Hilarion delivered precisely this same message everywhere he went in the United States: that Russia is ready to collaborate with the West on cultural and social matters such as support for marriage and the traditional family.”

| If you choose you can keep the commandments, they will save you; if you trust in God, you too shall live (Sir 15:15). |
The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ, her Lord;
she is his new creation, by water and the Word;
from heav’n he came and sought her to be his holy bride,
with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died.
Elect from every nation, yet one o’er all the earth,
her charter of salvation one Lord, one faith, one birth;
one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food,
and to one hope she presses with every grace endued.
Penitential Rite
St Gregory Gloria: Glory to God in the highest and peace to his people on earth..
1st Reading: Sirach 15: 15-20

Lord, you have the message of eternal life.
The precepts of the Lord are right, they gladden the heart.
The command of the Lord is clear; it gives light to the eyes.
Lord, you have the message of eternal life.
The fear of the Lord is holy, abiding forever;
The decrees of the Lord are truth, and all of them just.
Lord, you have the message of eternal life.
They are more to be desired than gold, than the purest of gold;
and sweeter are they than honey, than honey from the comb.
Lord, you have the message of eternal life.

Praying for the sick is a significant part of many people’s lives, and as a community we are conscious that we owe love and support not just to our immediate family but to others who are part of our lives.
This is a useful prayer, and here are the names of some of those who ask for our support:
Loving Father,
hear our prayers for the sick members of our community
and for all who support them.
Amid mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your healing presence.
Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure illness,
make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits.
May these special people find lasting health and deliverance,
and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Alleluia, sing to Jesus, his the sceptre, his the throne;
alleluia, his the triumph, his the victory alone:
hark the songs of peaceful Sion thunder like a mighty flood:
Jesus, out of every nation, hath redeemed us by his blood.
Alleluia, not as orphans are we left in sorrow now;
alleluia, he is near us, faith believes, nor questions how;
though the cloud from sight received him when the forty days were o’er,
shall our hearts forget his promise, “I am with you evermore”?

Lord, hear us
We remember those who have died in the community, and those who mourn,
including Brother Jerome, Robert Logie, and Margaret Duffy and her family,
all those whose anniversary falls about now,
and those who have been injured or killed while serving in the armed forces.
Lord, hear us . .
The Preparation of the Gifts:
Canticle Phil 2: 6-11 Tune: My God Loves Me
Though Jesus Christ was in the form of God,
he did not count such equality to be grasped.
Instead, he freely emptied out himself,
and took the form of a servant, was born like us.
In human form he chose humility,
and gave himself up to dying upon a cross.
Because of this our God exalted him, and raised him,
gave him a name above every name.
At Jesus’ name now every knee should bow,
be they in heav’n or on earth or creation’s depths.
