1st Reading : Wisdom 11:22-12:2

 Psalm 144: The Lord is loving, the Lord is kind.

The Lord is kind, full of compassion, slow to anger, abounding in love.
How good the Lord is to all, he shows compassion.
The Lord is good to all his creatures.  The Lord is loving, the Lord is kind.

The eyes of all creation look to you, and you give them food that they need.
All creatures thank you, O Lord, your friends shall bless you,
The Lord is good  to all his creatures.  The Lord is loving, the Lord is kind.

 The Lord is just in all his ways, he is loving in all his deeds;
the Lord is close to all who call on him.
The Lord is good to all his creatures.  The Lord is loving, the Lord is kind.

Reading II:  2 2 Thessalonians 1:11-2:2 2

Alleluia, alleluia.  Alleluia, alleluia.
God loved the world so much, he gave us his only Son
that all who believe in him may have eternal life.
Alleluia, alleluia.  Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel:: Luke 19:1-10

For the Church: that we may consistently show God’s love to people on the fringes of our lives, and be generous in helping them find acceptance and friendship in our community.    Lord, hear us . . .

That like Zacchaeus, we may be prepared to risk unpopularity if that is the price to be paid for honesty.  Lord, hear us

For all who support us in our journey of faith; for family, friends, and fellow believers: that God will renew and strengthen each of us.  Lord, hear us

For peace throughout the world, and particularly between the peoples of Israel and of Palestine, and in Iraq and Afghanistan.    Lord, hear us

For all who are ill and those who care for them, that they may experience the healing touch of God in their lives:  including Eileen Donaghy, Margaret McCafferty, Moira Montgomery, John Quinn,  Alan Hutcheson,Gallagher, Jean Martin,  Sadie Coll, Margaret Lanigan, Kenneth Fee, Peter Gibson, Cathy and Leo Gilbert,  Linda Giulianotti, Kathleen Mallon, Joe McGhee, Margaret Padden, Liam Brogan,  Fr Joseph Chambers, Cathy Bruce, Jane Henderson, Mary McKenna, Anne & Bernard McNiffe,  Mary O’Hare,  Anne McMahon, Margaret Duffy,  Bernadette Corvi and Mark Callaghan.    Lord, hear us

We remember those who have died including Rosemary Quinn, Gordon McCoard, Molly Rafferty,  and Brother Paul Peter, and for all those whose anniversary falls about now, including Toby Rowe,  Eileen Bannon and Georgina White. We also remember and pray for those who have been injured or killed while serving in the armed forces.    Lord, hear us

 The Preparation  of Gifts

Gladly I share your cross of pain, Trusting in your love.
Let your will be my will, let my will be yours.
In trust draw me close to you, the Saviour my soul adores.

Lord, I long for you alone, you are the treasure I yearn for.
You are the breath which brings me life, trusting in your love.

ALL SAINTS:  We sometimes have the notion that the saints were perfect, and we should be perfect too, only we know that’s not going to happen, so how intimidating is that?    But “perfect,” in Hebrew, doesn’t mean flawless; it means whole. The saints weren’t flawless, not by a longshot, which is why we can relate to them. The more one reads about them (that is, if we’re reading more than the syrupy back of a holy card), we realize that they were human like us. They had their good days and their bad days, and their character flaws and their mistakes and their problems. But they kept trying to get closer to God, trying to be wholly in tune with God, and they never stopped.

We would appreciate your thoughts on the change of timing.
