4th Sunday of Easter 2010 Vocations Sunday 25th April
| “Here I would like to recall the words of my venerable Predecessor John Paul II: “The very life of priests, their unconditional dedication to God’s flock, their witness of loving service to the Lord and to his Church – a witness marked by free acceptance of the Cross in the spirit of hope and Easter joy – their fraternal unity and zeal for the evangelization of the world are the first and most convincing factor in the growth of vocations” (Pastores Dabo Vobis, 41). It can be said that priestly vocations are born of contact with priests, as a sort of precious legacy handed down by word, example and a whole way of life.” |
All people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice;
him serve with fear, his praise forth tell, come ye before him and rejoice.
The Lord, ye know, is God indeed, without our aid he did us make;
we are his folk, he doth us feed and for his sheep he doth us take.
O enter then his gates with praise, approach with joy his courts unto;
praise, laud and bless his name always, for it is seemly so to do.
Bellahouston Gloria: Gloria, Gloria in excelsis Deo.
1: Glory to God in the highest .. . . . .
2: Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father . . . . .
3: For you alone are the Holy One . . . . . . . . . .
1st Reading: Acts of the Apostles 2:14. 36-41
Psalm 22: His goodness shall follow me always to the end of my days.
The Lord is my shepherd, there is nothing I shall want.
Fresh and green are the pastures where he gives me repose.
Near restful waters he leads me to revive my drooping spirits.
His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
In truth he guides me along the right path,
If I should walk in the valley of darkness no evil would I fear.
You are there with your crook and staff, with these you give me comfort.
His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my foes.
My head you have anointed with oil, my cup is overflowing.
His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
Goodness and kindness shall surely follow me all the days of my life.
In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for ever, forever and ever.
His goodness will follow me always to the end of my days.
2nd reading: 1 Peter 2:20-25
Gospel Acclamation: Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia. This day was made by the Lord.
We rejoice and are glad. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
Gospel: John 10:1-10
Preparation of Gifts:
Praise the king of all creation, who gives his Son as man’s salvation,
the glorious first born from the dead. Praise the Son from heav’n descending
to give us life that knows no ending, who comes to be our living bread.
O Spirit, make all one who feed on God’s own Son! Alleluia!
To Father, Son and Spirit be all glory giv’n eternally!
Jubilee Sanctus and Memorial: When we eat this bread . . .
Dunkeld Lamb of God . . . . .
Antiphon: Father, I pray for them: may they be one in us
So that the world may believe it was you who sent me; it was you who sent me.
Processional hymn:
Seed, scattered and sown, wheat, gathered and grown,

St Pio Prayer Group at St Leo’s
April 20, 2010
Members of the St Pio Prayer Group met this evening, Tuesday 20th April, at 7.00 in St Leo’s house. After their devotions, including attention to the needs of those who are in need of prayer and support, they caught up with the news since their last meeting before Easter, and then with much laughter celebrated the birthdays of three of their members, Ellen, Noreen and Margaret. It will be of interest to members to know that today the remains of St Pio, Padre Pio, were removed to a new resting place in the new Church of St. Pio of Pietrelcina which offers more space for pilgrims and easier access to the disabled. Padre Pio’s tomb is the third most visited Catholic site in the world, after the Vatican and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
