4th Sunday of Easter 2010 Vocations Sunday 25th April
| “Here I would like to recall the words of my venerable Predecessor John Paul II: “The very life of priests, their unconditional dedication to God’s flock, their witness of loving service to the Lord and to his Church – a witness marked by free acceptance of the Cross in the spirit of hope and Easter joy – their fraternal unity and zeal for the evangelization of the world are the first and most convincing factor in the growth of vocations” (Pastores Dabo Vobis, 41). It can be said that priestly vocations are born of contact with priests, as a sort of precious legacy handed down by word, example and a whole way of life.” |

St Pio prayer group meets alternate Tuesdays at 7.30 in the parish house.

The Sacred Threads (Embroiderers) meet Wed at 7.00 and Saturdays at 11.00 in the parish house.

St Pio Prayer Group at St Leo’s

Members of the St Pio Prayer Group met this evening, Tuesday 20th April, at 7.00 in St Leo’s house. After their devotions, including attention to the needs of those who are in need of prayer and support, they caught up with the news since their last meeting before Easter, and then with much laughter celebrated the birthdays of three of their members, Ellen, Noreen and Margaret. It will be of interest to members to know that today the remains of St Pio, Padre Pio, were removed to a new resting place in the new Church of St. Pio of Pietrelcina which offers more space for pilgrims and easier access to the disabled. Padre Pio’s tomb is the third most visited Catholic site in the world, after the Vatican and the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
